I am an emergency physician. I have had issues with degenerative disc disease for about 5 years. I was misdiagnosed for over a year and saw numerous physicians who assumed that I had a rotator cuff injury in my shoulder or tennis elbow when, in fact, my pain was due to degenerative disc disease and disk herniations causing referred (radicular) pain down my arms.

Yesterday I saw him again for two lumbar disc herniations and a large cyst that was pressing on my S1 nerve root.
